The Ear Falls Community Health Centre/ Family Health Team is offers different options for Smoking Cessation including pharmacotherapy (Champix or Zyban), Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), and behavioural therapy. Combining behavioural therapy with NRT or pharmacotherapy is the most effective approach to quitting smoking. While NRT and pharmacotherapy manages physical cravings and withdrawal, behavioural therapy addresses the psychological habits, triggers, and thought patterns associated with the addiction. The combined approach significantly increases your chances of long-term success.
The Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients (STOP) Program is a province-wide initiative delivering smoking cessation treatment (up to 26 weeks of NRT) and one-on-one counselling support to people who want to reduce/quit their tobacco use. These supports are available free of charge, through the Ear Falls Community Health Centre. The STOP Program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Speak to your health care provider today to start your Journey-To-Quit.
